Rainbow Birthday Party!

Friday night was M’s 10th birthday party/slumber party.  She hadn’t requested a theme but that dang Pinterest kept popping up with all these super cute rainbow decorations and crafts! So I informed her that I would be doing a rainbow party and she was super excited!

Garland and tissue paper pom poms!

Tissue paper pom pom tutorial can be found here!

Entry way table...

I just used some 6×6 rainbow paper I had and laid that on the table and found that super cute birthday printable online!

Birthday Banner!

This was a midnight craft where I wanted one more thing to hang up! I had the paper, stickers and cardboard garland base sitting in my massive pile of scrapbook supplies! I like how it turned out and I’ll be able to pull it out for future birthdays!

M&M’s and sour patch kids used for rainbow decoration!

Rainbow fruit kebabs, super easy to make and the kiddos LOVED eating them!

Rainbow cake tutorial can be found here!

Rainbow ice cubes, just used food coloring to dye some lemonade… Put in glasses of Sprite!

Birthday breakfast! The rainbow waffles would have been cute with a circle waffle iron, then cut in half with whipped cream on either side… but they were a hit regardless.  I used the same idea as the rainbow cake. Some of the colors did look a little brownish after cooking but the inside was pretty!

Rainbow Waffles!

This dishware from Ikea is something everyone should have.  I’ve had it for years and love it!

Happy Birthday M!

This is just a test

Just seeing how well posting from the WordPress app works… It would probably be better if my iPod or iPad took pictures and I could post those as well. Not too shabby, but I don’t think I could ever really type something longer than a few words as I HATE typing on this flat screen!

My happy place – Puerto Sherry

Puerto Sherry is what I pictured Spain would be like before we moved here.

I thought my house would look like these houses (not knowing we didn’t have a choice and HAD to live on base!)

Hello beautiful houses, will you be mine?

Puerto Sherry is where I go when I start to feel bummed about living overseas (I really do love it, it’s an awesome opportunity and I am going to miss the hell out of it when we leave but it can be challenging!)

As a matter of fact I DO love bougainvillea arching over my windows! I’ll take this one!

Puerto Sherry is a charming neighborhood that is parked right on the bay and has a small group of restaurants and a small beach.  The parking is pretty horrible (par for the course in Spain – when someone tells you about a restaurant the parking situation is one of the biggest pros/cons!) But there are parking lots and if you go during ‘American’ dining times as opposed to Spanish, you are fine.

Now our favorite place to eat? Blanca Paloma.  It is a small Italian restaurant that actually has another larger twin a few miles away. However there is no competition when it comes to the view!

The kiddos hanging out on the rocks next to the tables…

Big O and little O, hanging out at Blanco Paloma. You can see the beach in the background.

The kiddos and I last Mother’s Day… (A little blurry but you can see the city of Cadiz in the background)

Cutie pie!

A few things about this picture… first of all look at that great house behind O… And it’s for sale!! Also see the street right there? The street actually runs between the restaurant and the outdoor seating.  The outdoor seating is on a little strip that sits right on the water. The street ends at a small parking area so there isn’t really a ton of traffic. Also hey look there is Blanca Paloma’s phone number just in case you feel like giving them a call!

The view along the rocks, always LOTS of fishermen

Why can’t I have this roof on my house!!

M posing!

Puerto Sherry, Blanca Paloma, get there. You won’t regret it.

The plague. It is in my home.

So we have had this nasty stomach bug that has been circulating around base.  Fingers were crossed that it wouldn’t infect anyone in our house. Somehow even though I work at a day care and my son goes to a day care I thought that we would be fine.

Surprise surprise, it is actually my daughter who woke up Saturday morning with an upset tummy.  Very unfortunate since she had a flag football game that morning but I wanted to keep her home just in case.  A few hours later after lunch here I hear that dreaded sound from the kitchen, the cough/gag. I knew little O was in there puking.

Thank God for tile floors is all I’m saying.

Sunday everyone is fine. Today everyone is fine.  Kept little O home this morning just to be on the safe side, don’t want him going back to school and spreading it around.

Hubby and I have had that general feeling of not being 100%. Don’t have to throw up, just don’t reeeaaaallly feel like eating anything heavy just in case.

And also decided to procrastinate my ass off, (as per usual) and had to stay up until 3am last night submitting a report to one of my teachers.  Yay for midnight east coast time deadlines.

Weekend you went by way too quickly.
